Attributed to Henri-Horace Roland DELAPORTE (1724-1793) - Lot 194
Attributed to Henri-Horace Roland DELAPORTE (1724-1793) Still life with silver kettledrum, brioche, apples and hazelnut on an entablature Oil on canvas (old lining). On the back an old label with a mention: "42 -Chardin". (wear and restoration). 27.5 x 40 cm It is interesting to compare our work with the composition painted by Chardin around 1760, whose dimensions are almost identical (collection of Baron Edmond de Rothschild, Wildenstein, cat. 294, W836). The attribution to Delaporte recalls Chardin's clear influence on his pupils, as shown by the work of Anne Vallayer-Coster (1744-1818). The excellence of Delaporte's brushwork has often led to misattributions with those of Chardin. M.O
