KIRMAN (Persia), end of the XIXth century beginning of the X - Lot 271
KIRMAN (Persia), end of the XIXth century beginning of the XXth century. This carpet offers us the vision of an antique style paving, with a brick background, covered with polychrome flowers. The decoration consists of staggered oblong ivory medallions, polylobed and stylized vegetalized. They rest, for some, on cruciform "foundations" that remind us of the contours of a church. While the others are placed on shields in leafy, old gold accolades. The set is interspersed with more or less important shield-shaped marine cartridges. Four sky and sea counter-borders with garlands of flowers surround the main brickwork, with a succession of floral compositions and stylized flowers, set off by old gold acanthus leaves. Pleasant visual. 480 x 300 cm.
