KACHAN (Persia), first third of the 20th century. Framed by - Lot 220
KACHAN (Persia), first third of the 20th century. Framed by two fuchsia vegetal counter-borders, the main marine border supports a series of oblong ivory cartouches with Abjad writing. The main subject depicts five characters, in a garden, under an apple tree, playing music, dancing and reciting poems. They celebrate Noruz, the Persian New Year, where they honour the memory of a great scholar. The answer is certainly to be found in the translation of the inscriptions. 205 x 130 cm.
